In modern times, archery is no longer used as a hunting tool and weapon of war.
Archery has been converted into a sport that certainly nourishes our body.
In the 1600s, the sport of archery was very popular in England.
The archery tournament was first held in Yorkshire, England, in 1673.
In 1760, an archery organization was established in England and since then an archery tournament was held annually.
However, the International Archery Federation was only formed in 1931. Well, it's been a long time, yes!
Archery in the United Kingdom
Archery organization in Indonesia itself was only formed on July 12, 1953.
The organization was named Persatuan Panahan Indonesia (Perpani) and was inaugurated in Yogyakarta by Sri Paku Alam VIII.
The national archery championship was first held in 1959 in Surabaya.
Even so, archery was actually contested during the first National Sports Week (PON I) in 1948.
Since then, archery has become a popular sport in Indonesia, even having outstanding athletes.
